These are the top four questions and concerns people have about having a website for their own farm or business.  The Michigan Christmas Tree Association has teamed up with Digital Farming to create an easy, economical way for your farm to get online quickly. 

What are the benefits of using a plan from the MCTA and Digital Farming?

  • You be creating an online presence for your farm - a place where customers can learn about your business, your services, your products from anywhere in the world, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

  • You will be given a low-cost marketing opportunity for your farm.  Tell people about your website and save money on advertising.

  • $50 from every website designed through this program will be contributed to the MCTA Research Fund.  $25 from each year of hosting will be contributed to the Research Fund also.  Not only will you gain an online opportunity, you will be supporting crucial research for your own industry.

What are the costs involved?

  • $225 one-time design cost includes up to 5 pages with text, 2-5 photos per page, logo (additional design on logo or customization on page may be subject to fees)

  • $50 each additional page

  • $9-20 domain registration fee (this fee is if you currently do not have a domain name registered - .com names run $9 while other extensions may cost more)

  • $35 active link from the Michigan Christmas Tree Association website to your farm's website

  • $21.95 per month hosting fee (if you pay in full, you receive a reduction of $63.40 per year making your total hosting cost $200 per year)

How much does the MCTA Research Fund receive?

  • For each website designed, the Research Fund will receive $50.

  • For each year of hosting, the Fund will receive $25.

  • No other website design or hosting company can say they put up to $75 a year per website towards REAL CHRISTMAS TREE important research.

What do I have to do once I make the decision to take my farm online?

  • You will be provided with a simple worksheet of information to complete for your website.  You might want to have information like company history, services, products, ecological issues, environmental concerns, specials, photo of your farm and/or trees, etc.  Anything that you would like to use to promote your farm can be placed on the website.

  • Sit back and relax.  The rest will be done for you.  Your farm will be ready to be shown to the world.
